Note: Google Chat is available as a free service in some environments. However, the Google Chat incoming webhook URL required for this plugin setup is part of Google Workspace. Google’s official documentation requires a Business or Enterprise Google Workspace account to create incoming webhooks, and in practice a domain-based, domain-verified Google Workspace setup is required to unlock advanced Google Chat features. Personal gmail.com accounts are not suitable for this webhook setup. You can view available Google Workspace plans here: Google Workspace Pricing.

Create or Open a Google Chat Space

Sign in to Google Chat and create a new space, or open an existing space where you want DeliveryKit SMTP notifications to be sent. The incoming webhook will be created for that specific space.

Create the Incoming Webhook

Open the Google Chat space you created. Then click the arrow next to the space title and open the webhook settings.

Depending on your Google Chat interface, this may appear as Apps & integrations > Add webhooks or Manage webhooks.

Copy the Webhook URL

After creating the incoming webhook in your Google Chat space, copy the generated webhook URL and keep it ready. You will need this URL when configuring Google Chat notifications in the DeliveryKit plugin.

Enable Google Chat Notifications in DeliveryKit SMTP

In your WordPress dashboard, go to DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications. Then find Google Chat under Messaging Notifications (Email Logs) and enable it to display the Google Chat notification settings.

Configure the Google Chat Notification Settings

Notification Days: Select the days when you want to receive messaging notifications. These days apply to all enabled messaging channels, including Telegram, Slack, Discord, Pushover, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat.

Webhook URL: Paste the Google Chat incoming webhook URL you copied from your Google Chat space.

After entering the webhook URL, click Save & Send Google Chat Test to save the settings and send a test notification to your Google Chat space.

Verify the Success Message

On the same page, you should see a success message confirming that the notification settings were saved and the Google Chat test notification was sent successfully.

Note: Microsoft Teams incoming webhook templates do not require a premium license. However, webhook creation depends on the Workflows app and your Microsoft Teams environment. If you are using Microsoft Teams Free and only see Communities, Microsoft’s official webhook documentation does not clearly confirm support for this setup.

Create a Microsoft Teams Account or Sign In

To begin, sign in to your Microsoft Teams work or school account at teams.microsoft.com. After signing in, you can create or open a team and continue with the Microsoft Teams notification setup.

Note: In Microsoft Teams Free, you can create communities and add channels. However, incoming webhooks in Microsoft Teams use the Workflows feature, and Microsoft’s official documentation does not clearly confirm that this webhook setup is available in the Teams Free Communities environment. If the Workflows option is not available in your account, you will not be able to create an incoming webhook in the free version.

Create a New Team

Enable Microsoft Teams Notifications in DeliveryKit SMTP

After creating the incoming webhook in Microsoft Teams and copying its webhook URL, go to your WordPress dashboard and open DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications. Then find Microsoft Teams under Messaging Notifications (Email Logs) and enable it to display the Microsoft Teams notification settings.

Create a Pushover Account or Sign In

Before you begin, sign in to your Pushover account at pushover.net/login. If you do not already have a Pushover account, create one first at pushover.net/signup.

If you create a new account, do not forget to verify your email address. Open the verification email sent by Pushover, then click Verify your e-mail address to activate your account.

Create a Pushover Application/API Token

Create a New Pushover Application/API Token

After signing in to your Pushover account, go to pushover.net/apps/build to create a new application and generate an API token for DeliveryKit SMTP.

Enter a name for your application, such as DeliveryKitSMTP, then click Create Application to generate the Pushover Application/API Token.

After the application is created, copy the API Token/Key shown on the application page. You will need this token later when configuring Pushover notifications in the DeliveryKit SMTP plugin.

Enable Pushover Notifications in DeliveryKit SMTP

In your WordPress dashboard, go to DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications. Then find the Pushover option under Messaging Notifications (Email Logs) and enable it to display the Pushover notification settings.

Enter the API Token

In the API Token field, paste the Application/API Token you copied from your Pushover application page.

Copy and Paste Your User Key

Go to pushover.net and sign in to your Pushover account. On your dashboard, copy the value shown under Your User Key.

Then return to the DeliveryKit SMTP Pushover settings and paste it into the User Key field.

After entering the API Token and User Key, click Save & Send Pushover Test to save the settings and send a test notification to your Pushover account.

On the same page, you should see a success message confirming that the notification settings were saved and the Pushover test notification was sent successfully. You may also see the Pushover API status code, such as 200, which indicates the request was accepted successfully.

You can see the test message in your Pushover app on the device linked to your account, such as your phone, tablet, or desktop app.

If you do not see the message, first make sure you have installed the Pushover app and added at least one device to your account. In your screenshot, No devices registered is shown, so notifications cannot be delivered yet.

After adding a device, send the test again. The message should appear as a push notification and also inside your Pushover app message list.

Register Pushover for Desktop

To receive Pushover notifications on your desktop, go to pushover.net/clients/desktop. In the Registration section, enter a name for your desktop device, then click Register Web Browser.

After registering your desktop device, click Ok, let’s get started! to continue. Then allow browser notification permission when prompted, so Pushover can deliver notifications to your desktop browser.

You should now see the test notification sent from the DeliveryKit SMTP plugin in your Pushover app or desktop client. If you do not see it, return to the DeliveryKit SMTP Pushover settings and click Save & Send Pushover Test again. The test notification should then appear in your Pushover message list.

Create a Discord Account

Before you begin, sign in to your Discord account at discord.com/login. If you do not already have a Discord account, create one at discord.com/register, then continue with the next steps in this guide.

Create or Select a Discord Server

Before you can set up Discord notifications for DeliveryKit SMTP, you need a Discord server where the notifications will be sent.

Create a New Server

In the left sidebar of Discord, click the plus (+) icon to add a new server. Then follow the on-screen steps to create it.

In the Create Your Server window, click Create My Own to start creating a new Discord server for your DeliveryKit SMTP notifications.

On the Tell Us More About Your Server screen, click For me and my friends. This is the recommended option for creating a simple server to use with DeliveryKit SMTP notifications.

Enter a name for your server, such as DeliveryKitSMTP server, then click Create to finish creating the Discord server.

Create a Discord Channel

Open the Discord server you want to use for DeliveryKit SMTP notifications. In the left sidebar, under Text Channels, click the plus (+) icon to create a new text channel.

Select Text as the channel type, enter a channel name such as deliverykitsmtp-notifications, and enable Private Channel.

Using a private channel is recommended so DeliveryKit SMTP notifications remain visible only to selected members and are not accessible to everyone in the server. After that, click Next.

Add any members or roles that should have access to receive DeliveryKit SMTP notifications in this channel. If you want to keep the private channel for your own access only, click Skip to continue.

Create a Discord Webhook

In your Discord server, find the channel you created for DeliveryKit SMTP notifications. Then click the gear icon next to the channel name to open the channel settings and continue with the webhook setup.

In the channel settings, click Integrations in the left sidebar. Then, under Webhooks, click Create Webhook to generate a new webhook for this channel.

On the Integrations > Webhooks page, click Create Webhook to create a new webhook for the selected Discord channel.

Click the arrow icon to expand the webhook settings, then enter a name such as DeliveryKitSMTP. After that, click Save Changes.

Once the webhook is saved, click Copy Webhook URL and keep it ready. You will need this webhook URL when configuring Discord notifications in the DeliveryKit SMTP plugin.

Enable Discord Notifications in DeliveryKit SMTP

In your WordPress dashboard, go to DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications. Then find the Discord option under Messaging Notifications (Email Logs) and enable it to display the Discord notification settings.

Configure the Discord Notification Settings

Notification Days: Select the days when you want to receive messaging notifications. These days apply to all enabled messaging channels, including Telegram, Slack, Discord, Pushover, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat.

Channel Name (Internal): Enter your Discord channel name without the # symbol. For example: deliverykitsmtp-notifications.

Webhook URL: Paste the Discord webhook URL you copied from your Discord channel webhook settings.

After entering the details, click Save & Send Discord Test to save the settings and send a test notification to your Discord channel.

On the same page, you should see a success message confirming that the notification settings were saved and the Discord test notification was sent successfully. You may also see the Discord webhook status code, such as 204, which indicates the webhook request was accepted successfully.

After sending the test, open your Discord notification channel. You should see a new DeliveryKit SMTP Discord Test message showing your site name, test time, and the latest email log details. This confirms that Discord notifications are working correctly.

Create a Slack Account

If you do not already have a Slack account, go to Slack’s Get Started page and create one first.

  1. Open the Slack Get Started page.
  2. Enter your email address, or continue with Google or Apple.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Check your inbox and copy the confirmation code sent by Slack.
  5. Enter the code to verify your email address.
  6. Click Create a Workspace and follow the setup prompts.
  7. After your workspace is ready, continue with the next steps in this guide.

Create your Slack account

Create a Slack Channel

First, visit Slack.com and open your workspace, or open the Slack app if you already installed it.

Add a New Channel

In your Slack workspace sidebar, under Channels, click Add channels to start creating a new channel for DeliveryKit SMTP notifications. Then Click Add New Channel.

Name the Channel

Enter a name for your Slack channel, for example deliverykitsmtp-notifications, then click Next.

Choose Channel Visibility

Select whether the channel should be Public or Private, then click Create to finish creating the channel.

A Private channel is highly recommended for DeliveryKit SMTP notifications, because it helps limit access to email alerts and logs to only the invited members of that channel.

Add Channel Members

Add the people who should have access to this Slack channel by entering their name or email address.

If you do not want to add anyone right now, click Skip for now. No additional members will be added yet, but you will still have access to the channel yourself and can receive DeliveryKit SMTP notifications there.

If you created the channel as Private, only invited members will be able to view the notifications posted in it.

Getting started with incoming webhooks

We’re going to walk through a 3-step process (if you’ve already done some of these things it’ll be even easier) that will have you posting messages using incoming webhooks in just a few minutes:

1. Create a Slack App

If you do not already have a Slack app, open the Slack app creation page, enter an app name, choose the workspace you want to connect it to, then click Create App. If you already created one before, you can use that existing app.

Create a Slack app

Note: Since you may send many test messages while setting this up, it is a good idea to use a separate test channel in your Slack workspace.

Enter a name for your Slack app, choose the workspace you want to connect it to, then click Create App.

On the Basic Information page, copy and save the credentials you need for later, then click Save Changes.

2. Enable incoming webhooks

Go to the Slack Apps page, then in the app list click the Slack app you created for DeliveryKit SMTP to open it.

3. Create an incoming webhook

In the left sidebar of your Slack app settings, click Incoming Webhooks.

Turn Incoming Webhooks on, then click Add New Webhook to create a webhook for your Slack channel.

Select the Slack channel you created for DeliveryKit SMTP notifications, then click Allow to authorize the app and create the webhook.

You can select either a public or private channel. A private channel is recommended to help limit access to email alerts and logs. If you created a private channel and did not add any other members, you will still have access to it yourself and can receive the notifications there.

After the webhook is created, copy the generated Webhook URL. You will need this URL in DeliveryKit SMTP to connect Slack notifications to your selected channel.

Enable Slack Notifications in DeliveryKit SMTP

In your WordPress dashboard, go to DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications, then turn on Slack in the Messaging Notifications section to show the Slack settings fields.

Enter the Slack Connection Details

In the Slack settings box, fill in the required fields using the values from your Slack app and webhook setup.

Slack Contact Email: Enter the email address associated with your Slack setup. This is used for Slack onboarding and approval tracking.

Slack Client ID: Paste the Client ID from your Slack app credentials.

Slack Client Secret: Paste the Client Secret from your Slack app credentials.

Webhook URL: Paste the Slack Incoming Webhook URL you created for your selected channel. This can be used as a manual fallback.

After entering the details, check I agree to Slack integration terms and will authorize workspace access, then click Save & Send Slack Test to save the settings and send a test notification to Slack.

Confirm the Slack Test Notification

After clicking Save & Send Slack Test, you should see a success message confirming that the notification settings were saved and the Slack test notification was sent successfully. If you see a Slack webhook status: 200 message, your Slack webhook is working correctly.

Check the Test Message in Slack

After clicking Save & Send Slack Test, open your selected Slack channel and confirm that the DeliveryKit SMTP Slack Test message appears there. If the message is posted in the channel, your Slack notifications are connected and working correctly.

How Telegram Notifications Work

DeliveryKit SMTP Telegram notifications work through the official @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot bot. To connect your Telegram account, you only need to verify the connection inside the bot. After verification, DeliveryKit SMTP will send your email log notifications to that bot in your own Telegram account, based on your selected Notification Days settings.

You do not need to create your own Telegram bot, group, or channel. Everything works directly through @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot, which makes the setup fast and simple.

Enable Telegram Notifications

In your WordPress dashboard, go to DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications. In the Messaging Notifications (Email Logs) section, first choose your Notification Days. Then turn on the Telegram toggle to enable Telegram notifications for email logs.

Notification Days

Select the days when Telegram notifications are allowed to be sent. DeliveryKit SMTP will use these selected days for sending email log alerts, unless immediate failed email alerts are enabled.

Telegram Toggle

Enable the Telegram toggle to start the Telegram connection setup. After turning it on, the Telegram settings fields will appear so you can continue the verification process with @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot.

Generate Token

Click Generate Token to create a unique connection token for your Telegram setup. This token will be used in the next step to verify your Telegram account with @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot.

Open the Telegram Bot

Copy the bot username and open Telegram to search for it. You can also click Open @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot if Telegram is installed on the same device, which will open the bot directly for you.

Search for the Bot in Telegram

In Telegram, paste or type @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot in the search box, then open the bot from the search results to continue the connection process.

Start the Bot

After opening @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot, click Start to begin the chat and allow the bot to receive your connection token in the next step.

Copy the Current Token

After clicking Generate Token, a unique value will appear in the Current Token field. Copy this token, because you will need to send it to @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot in the next step to connect your Telegram account.

Send the Token to the Bot

In the chat with @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot, paste the token you copied from DeliveryKit SMTP, then send it as a normal message. The bot will use this token to identify and verify your Telegram connection.

Confirm Token Accepted

After sending the token, you should see this message in the bot:

Connection token accepted
Token accepted for my-site.com. Return to WordPress and click Verify Connection.

If you do not see this message, the token may have expired. In that case, go back to DeliveryKit SMTP, generate a new token, and send the new one to the bot.

Verify Connection

After the bot accepts your token, return to your WordPress dashboard and click Verify Connection. DeliveryKit SMTP will check the token and complete the Telegram connection.

Connection Verified

After clicking Verify Connection, the Connection Status should change to Connected. You should also see a success message confirming that future failed email alerts will be sent through @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot.

Save Settings

After your Telegram connection is completed, click Save Settings to keep the connection saved in DeliveryKit SMTP.

Send Test Message

Click Send Test Message to send a test notification to your connected Telegram account. This helps confirm that the Telegram connection is working correctly before you rely on it for real email log alerts.

Check the Test Message in Telegram

After clicking Send Test Message, you should receive a test alert in your Telegram chat from @DeliveryKitSMTPMessagesBot. If the message arrives, your Telegram notifications are connected correctly and ready to receive future DeliveryKit SMTP alerts.

Disconnect Connection

If you want to remove the current Telegram connection, click Disconnect. This will disconnect the linked Telegram account from DeliveryKit SMTP, and Telegram notifications will stop until you connect again and save the settings.

Failed Email Alerts

Enable Failed Email Alerts if you want DeliveryKit SMTP to send an alert immediately whenever an email fails. When this option is enabled, alerts are sent right away and the selected Notification Days are ignored.

Notification Days

Select the days when messaging notifications are allowed to be sent. These days are used only when Failed Email Alerts is disabled. In that case, DeliveryKit SMTP will follow the selected days for sending notifications.

Messaging Channels

DeliveryKit SMTP supports multiple messaging channels for email log alerts. You can enable or disable each one using its toggle. Available channels:
  • Telegram
  • Slack
  • Discord
  • Pushover
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Google Chat
Turn on the channel you want to use, then configure its settings to start receiving notifications.

Save Settings

After making your changes, click Save Settings to save your notification preferences.

Summary Email

In your WordPress dashboard, go to DeliveryKit SMTP > Notifications. In this page, you can enable summary email notifications, choose the days when summaries should be sent, and define which email addresses will receive them.

Enable Summary Email

Check Enable Summary Email to turn on summary email notifications. Once enabled, DeliveryKit SMTP will send scheduled summary emails to the addresses you set below.

Notification Days

Under Notification Days, select the days when you want DeliveryKit SMTP to send the summary email. You can choose only specific days or select all days of the week, depending on how often you want to receive updates.

Notification Email Addresses

In Notification Email Addresses, enter the email address or addresses that should receive the summary emails. If you want to use multiple email addresses, separate them with commas.

You can also use the smart tag {site_admin} to automatically send the summary email to the website administrator email address.

What Are DeliveryKit SMTP Notifications?

DeliveryKit SMTP Notifications helps you stay informed about your website’s email activity. You can use it to receive summary emails about your email logs and instant alerts when an email fails to send. This makes it easier to monitor delivery issues, review email activity, and keep the right people informed through email or supported messaging channels.

Summary Email

Summary Email lets you receive scheduled email notifications about your email logs. Enable it to send summary reports to one or more recipients on the days you choose.

In Notification Days, select the days when the summary email should be sent. In Notification Email Addresses, enter the recipient email addresses separated by commas. You can also use the {site_admin} smart tag to send the summary to the site administrator email address automatically.

The Next summary schedule field shows the next planned date and time for the summary email, so you can quickly confirm when the next notification will be sent.

Messaging Notifications (Email Logs)

Messaging Notifications lets you send email log alerts to supported messaging channels. If Failed Email Alerts is enabled, alerts are sent immediately for every failed email, and the selected Notification Days are ignored.

If immediate failed email alerts are disabled, notifications are sent only on the days selected in Notification Days. You can connect one or more channels, including Telegram, Slack, Discord, Pushover, Microsoft Teams, and Google Chat, then click Save Settings to apply your changes.

The Send Summary Now button lets you send a summary immediately, without waiting for the next scheduled time.
